This week as we move towards Superbowl Sunday this scripture leaps to mind:
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NIV
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets
the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes
in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that
will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight
like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it
my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be
disqualified for the prize.
~~Do we train in our Christian
walk? Or do we show up at our stadiums on Sunday and root the team on
with our "Amens", and pay for our seats when the plates go by? What
strict training have you entered in to? Or, do we just dismiss this
scripture and give it to the pastors? Dont forget verse 24.... you are
in the race!
Question is do you want the prize? I think if
the Apostle Paul had not attained but kept fighting to overcome and
attain it.... that I most definetly did not attain it when I said "I Do"
and gave my life to him.... I just got on the team!
So start
training today. Yes it will hurt....yes it requires sacrifice.....yes it
has failures.....but OHHHH the reward when you see the beauty of His
face and hear, Good job faithful servant here is your reward...... And
it wont be a trip to Disneyland!
So don't just be in the race....train and run for the prize!~~
Many Blessings!
